Technically yes. If you have SSO you don't need DSD, if you have security duties when on board you need DSD, if you don't have security duties on board you need Security Awareness. However, as most companies say you 'may' be required for security duties everyone is doing DSD as a minimum.

I am currently on stand-by pay because my company lost my DSD/SSO certificate. So I'm sure you need them now.

P.s. @inland pirate, no certs are a waste of time, each one is worth something, some day you will be begging you had that extra course certificate.

You should get one of these, and put the certificates back to back.

Or if you want a bit more fancy,

Then also attached is what some companies provide to seafarers to take care of Certs

My apologies, thanks for the update, I was not aware this was possible.

I will clarify my previous statement then - I have never seen an OOW CoC which says Advanced on the tanker endorsement. If this is possible then there will be no need to take any of the tanker course certificates away with you as the endorsement is what is valid.

What do you mean officer of the watch endorsment is not advanced. That's not what mine says.

I'm a bit lost on some of the more up to date acronyms but have you got your Security Duties certificate as well?

Also you need to take your contract of employment with you.

You need your CoC booklet but not the certificate.

If you have advanced gas or oil you don't need the familiarisation. Make sure these are stamped in your CoC and then you don't need them either. Remembering though that an endorsement in an OOW CoC is not Advanced, so you will still need to take proof of an advanced course if you are to take direct charge of any cargo operations (ie only person on watch during cargo operations).

I can't remember what type of ship you're joining, but make sure you take all your short course stuff with you, especially the advanced tanker courses. Just having the endorsements isn't always enough, some vetting inspectors want to see the actual advanced certificate...

I don't think we need, we've already got our COC, but I've stuck it in anyway. I received it from COGC after completing the PD, I've just always kept it in the folder.
