  • Testimonial for mates and master

when getting testimonials going for mates and masters, what information is actually required on it?

I know every company normally has proforma, but what is actually needed?

It is in 2 parts really, one is a declaration of the time at sea. This can often be replaced by discharge books or letter from the company. The other part is the declaration of watch keeping which forms part of the STCW requirements for obtaining each certificate. This is often the more important part of the declaration as it is a defined number of months for progression to the next certificate. Also Ship specific information like tonnage to determine the certificate you will receive. MGN 92 has it is simple terms I think.
If you can't laugh, you shouldn't have joined!!

Look in your SMS, you'll usually find a template of sorts within there.

If you're doing the Indian system then yours will be a bit different as you will need to include propelling time as well.

There's also an example of one on the MCA website in word format.
