  • Revalidation of CoC

I'm finding it difficult to find a job at sea as a junior officer at the moment but have been offered a menial job in the operations department of a shipping company.

Just wondering if anybody knows how revalidation of my CoC would work if I got a shore based job?
I know that if I left the industry I wouldn't be able to revalidate but does the same apply if I work in say the operations department of a shipping company?

Yes I think so. I'm not quite sure how it all works but the guys here get their CoC's revalidated...
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

All posts here represent my own opinion and not that of my employer.

Like Steve said MGN 9 is where to go. If im correct you can hold certain "Marine Jobs" which can be used as validation.

Also heard about certain guys doing short contract work to get the 3 month requirement? but i'm not entirely sure how it works.

considered to be at least equivalent to the sea service required for revalidation. A list of
occupations which will be favourably considered is given below. It is not exhaustive and
applications from certificate holders engaged in other occupations may also be considered.
Applications for revalidation may be made by certificate holders who have been engaged in the
listed occupations for at least two and a half of the preceding five years.
