    How much sea time as an officer is needed for the mates ticket?

    I'm pretty sure it's 18 months, but I've heard some people say 12 months.

    Looked on the MCA website and it says something about VQ route needing 12 months... what does this mean?? What is a VQ? Is this the English system?
