UK CoC and Advanced Tanker Course Endorsement | Need Assistance

Good day ,

I need your information about one matter. After I get my UK CoC, I am gonna work on Marshall Flag Tanker. I have done my Advanced Tanker Courses in Turkey and they have already been endorsed to my Turkish Discharge Book. To work on Marshall Flagged Tanker, I need Marshall Endorsement, and I am planning to use my UK CoC and Turkish Advanced Tanker Courses to endorse Marshall. I know Marshall accept my all Turkish certificates. But I want to make sure that if I do it, after 2 year service to get promotion in MCA, does it cause any problem for me. I mean that, can I use like this or do I have to take Advanced Tanker Course again in UK. I say again I will not work on UK flagged vessel.

Right, have you got your advanced tanker courses endorsed onto your UK CoC? If not, then I would look to do so at some point but I would check to see if Turkish issued certificates are acceptable (I think they are), because certificates from certain countries are no longer accepted (e.g. Indian Certificates). I think the safest thing to do here is to get the info directly from the MCA as it would be their decision to make and I would advise you to give them a call or even call one of the UK colleges up an ask them.

From that PM you've just sent me the MCA made it pretty clear that if you want the DCE's applied to your UK CoC then you will need to do the course either within the UK or an EU college and that your Turkish courses were not acceptable. Now asking the MCA about how Marshall Islands will handle things is a bit of a waste of time as they won't know and quite rightly pointed out to you that how do they do things is their business. Speak to your manning agent in Turkey and see what they say as they are the ones that will be applying for your CRA from MI.
