  • Coming back after period ashore

I have been ashore for 17 yrs. I had to stop due to illness. I last worked as 2nd mate on oil rig supply then sand&gravel dredgers on the east coast/Thames. Can anyone advise about the revalidation process. I have searched and found little reference to revalidating other from the MCA. It looks like not many people are doing this. No doubt there have been many changes. I consider myself fit and feel I would now get an ENG1. I don't expect it to be easy. Is there anyone here in a similar position. Can anyone enlighten me.

    Thanks

    Hi toucan

Have you seen http://www.dft.gov.uk/mca/443__m_.pdf That seems to sum it up, good luck!

      Hi toucan

I know that in the past some colleges used to offer a short term with all the short courses and preperation for the orals for people who had tickets issued but had been out of the game for a while - just a thought!

      Cheers

Give them MCA a phone and ask them, they can be quite helpful. Nowhere better than straight from the horses mouth.
