    Hi!
Does anyone work on ERRV as 2/O? I would like to get some information about the job and requirements for the position. I consider applying for this kind of vessel. What maritime documents are required except UK CeC and ITSO? AMA,FRCB are also required for 2/O?
    Thanks in advance for responses!

If you have STCW and UK CeC the 2 major ERRV companies in the north sea ... Vroon and North Star will give u a job no bother

You dont need ama frcb or anything like that no .

P.S. It is the worst job for an officer ever ... i done 3 trips and nearly hung myself

Thanks bobofinga. I do hold all STCW documents and waiting for UK CeC to be formed in few weeks. I heard the same about this job.. but two things convince me to trying get there - 2/O inscription in my seaman's book and four week crew rotation. In the meantime I am going to send tons of application on better vessels.

I did a trip on an ERRV as chief officer a few years ago, just as relief work between jobs. It was awful, and really requires very little skill. Dealing with the crew was the biggest challenge, bunch of 7&)?(?(?(?)

I am starting to worry.. But at this time the most important is 3/o or 2/o inscription in my seaman's book. Can You tell me is the requirement of previous officer experience very respected in this work?

I can and no the work is not respected - you dont need a full COC and can do it with a restriced ticket as in Research / Survey only. No cargo operations and not much in the way of Nav; hanging around the 500m of a platform isnt going to have your name in lights for shipping companies.

It's better that lashing lorries all day long with rusty chains as O/S. As I have no experience as OOW I think it's the best idea for now.

I replied to this thread the other day and the stupidly slow internet on this ship didn't get it through. I think if you're having trouble getting work on a ship, its better than nothing!! although some people may say the work is not respected and it may not be too some people, but this i'm afraid that is a totally backward way of thinking and maybe people who think like that are what's wrong with shipping these days. I look at them EERV's ploughing into waves in the North Sea and it makes me respect the lads on there! and if I was ever employing people i wouldn't hold it against them because they've worked on an EERV if anything it adds a different experience totheir CV, as long as its not the only thing they have ever done. I work with AB's and officers who have come from Esvagt and theres no good, well trained seafarers who know what they are doing. good luck to you in whatever you decided and i hope you can find your way into offshore =]

I have just received my UK CeC and applying for 2/O position on ERRV. I applied to Vroon, North Star, Seacor and Atlantic Offshore. Only NS asked me for copy of my certification and avaiability but no further response... I heard that NS send people for appropriate courses (ITSO) but few agencies rejected my application due to lack of ITSO and SSO certification. I have a big dilemma - go for ITSO course and try get on ERRV (I don't even know if I have any chances to get there with my small experience) or go for BOSIET (+MIST gratis) and try get on better vessels with DP as A/B. In both cases it is risky because the courses are very expensive. On one hand getting ITSO maybe can 'send' me on ERRV, but on the other hand having BOSIET raises a little my chances to get on DP vessel...
