I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

They appear to have updated the website. They are looking for:
      Chief Engineer
      ETO
      2nd Engineer

Could a Mod update the thread title?

            very interesting, thanks for posting

Has anyone on the forum been on a BAS ship or know of the length of trips?

4:2 I believe, I've got a friend who recently worked for them - any other specific questions? I could pass them on?

Thanks. It would be interesting to know how many years of ETO experience they're looking for. Salary wise, the ETO role is 2nd engineer level so I'm assuming a few.

                  Hi Chris

I worked for BAS on the deck side for 10 years. The Antarctic is an amazing place and BAS a very good organsiation to work for.

Trip lengths are currently 2-3 months on the Shackleton, and 4 months on the JCR (although rumours abound that this is going to reduce). Official leave rates work out at 4 on 2.5 off ish. However both vessels work an unofficial back to back rotation, so generally time for time with flexibility to be called back early if needed in your standby time.

                  I hope this helps.
