      What sorts of things do they tend to mean in a 'benefits package'? I can see for an office worker it might be a company car or fuel, but that wouldn't exactly be so useful at sea....

          Do they pay tax and NI?
          Well, benefits might be Pension contributions, Private Medical Care, Paid travel, business class flights, performance bonus, family travel, company rates on clubs or other such stuff.
          Cruise ship Captain with experience on-board Passenger Vessels ranging from 5500-150000 GRT.
