I would recommed calling Bob Brooke at Northen Marine Management in Glasgow. He's in charge of all Chevron Cadet training in the UK and Ireland. He could probably point you in the right direction.

Well, they're on the Clyde list, but they also have an e-mail to take CVs online (DonPedro suggests they recruit themselves, but I think they go through Clyde... I got no acknowledgment from them =(

I don't know what Maersk pay but the SSTG guy we had on our course, his wages worked out at about ?1000/month (including the fact that they were paying for his accomodation). On the other end of the scale, the Bibby guys were only getting about ?4-500/month and had to pay for their accomodation out of that!

The thing to remember as well is that during your sea phases you'd have no accommodation costs, so more money. Whereas with SSTG, you actually get less money during your sea phases. All my dealings with SSTG have been good too, they're quite nice people.

    Re: Hey =)

    Exellent reasoning :handgestures-thumbupleft:

We had one SSTG cadet on our course (he dropped out when he was so seasick on board he got sent home after two weeks!) and he did seem to get paid way more than the rest of us. Some cadets only get about 500/month and hall fees were 400/month!! Apart from that he was very quiet so I never found out much of what he thought about SSTG.

I don't think many companies guarantee a job at the end these days. Shell do, but they're :angry-devil:
