    Re: hello!

I applied for Maersk in 2009 and only got accepted for the 2010 intake. I'm just starting out so i haven't yet been on board... my sea experience is fairly non existent.

I can't imagine that I would have many problems working with anyone, I'm open minded and fairly easy to get along with... best if you have a sense of humor around me though and a set of earplugs for when the karaoke starts.

      Re: hello!

I see, good luck with it all anyway! I'm similar, when I worked as a shipping agent I met all kinds of nationalities, Filipinos, Dutch, German, Italian to name a few and they were all great. I'd say it's always a plus to have a sense of humour (I try to have one most times ) Just in case you do sail with Filipinos one thing I do know is they LOVE to sing! Do you really sound that bad?! hahaha!

        Re: hello!

I wouldn't say i was tone deaf... it's far far worse than that....

I just can't sing... at all... I can play instruments and can tell the difference between notes... I just have no vocal ability

I would say I'm being far too complimentary... i really cannot sing

I can play the Trombone, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Recorder and Triangle

All to at least Grade 6 standard

                Re: hello!

The triangle is one of the most difficult instruments to play correctly... I attempted Franz Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1, 3rd Movement (the triangle solo) it was complicated and beyond my skill level...

                        Re: hello!

no, I'm being sponsored by Trinity House.

I did apply to Carnival as well but they took a long while getting back to me. It was quite funny, they offered me an assessment day just a few days after I accepted the Trinity offer.

I see..I feel quite bad because initially I accepted a different cadetship offer with one company, then Carnival asked me to attend an assessment day with them, which I did, and now I've ended up turning down the first offer in favour of Carnival. Do you have any previous electrical experience?

I wouldn't worry, I think that happens quite a lot.

I've got a bit of previous experience, I quite enjoyed electronics at school (Design and Technology) and I did my work experience in an electrical engineering firm then I went off track and studied towards working in the finance industry, I'm now changing career back to where I should probably have worked in the first place (though the pure Electro course didn't exist then, and I'm not really into engines)
