  • Hi

Hi Folks, Just joined the forum having been a guest throughout my cadetship.

    A bit about myself,

I completed my cadetship last year with CMT/Norbulk and studied at GCNS/COGC. I spent my entire sea time aboard tankers trading worldwide. I passed the HNC and the MCA Written exams but have been unsuccessful at the Orals.

I'm looking for some advise on how to get into the industry in a non officer capacity to gain more experience prior to going for the orals again?
Also what companies to apply to?

    Hello, welcome and all that.......

Just take the re-sit you now know what they are looking for and at what standard....it'll be easier to then get a job. Getting extra experience without your full ticket to get a full ticket is a bit of a "hole in my bucket" situation.

Maybe see if the Tall Ships need people, they always want volunteers, but it wont count much towards helping for your orals.
    Trust me I'm a Chief.

Views expressed by me are mine and mine alone.
Yes I work for the big blue canoe company.
No I do not report things from here to them as they are quite able to come and read this stuff for themselves.
