Hi There,
First of all would like to thank you for the information on this site! I have learnt so much just from reading.
I would just like to give you a little background on myself.
Went to school with no idea what I wanted to do, got some good standard grades(mostly 1s and 2s) and some Intermediate 2's (maths, physics and biology). I do believe these are pretty much in between Standard grades and SQA highers.
Tried college for a few weeks, doing engineering, lecturers were useless and never turned up so I decided to work. I started in a Laboratory at the local hospital, I then moved to a pharmaceutical plant starting as a storeperson, now a transport officer.
My grandfather passed away at the beginning of the year. I heard from a lot of his friends that he was a great deck officer.... He also jumped ship in New Zealand. I am not sure what that says about him though
. I have researched a career at sea since then and really see this as a great career path the first thing that has really excited me, I have even taken up sailing as a hobby.
I have applied to SSTG, Maersk, Anglo Eastern and CMT, CMT rejected myself, but it was my own fault as I did not exactly sell myself (rushed application etc etc) you learn the hard way eh?
Any advice on these places I have applied?
Any Advice at all in fact would be of great help?
Maersk are full for this September, got feedback from CMT, they advised to re-apply in 6 months.
So yeah, thats my stupidly long intro!
Glad to be onboard. Hopefully I will physically be onboard in the near future!
