    THIS is fantastic.

Well, welcome to the site! If you have any questions, please ask!

I wonder if your son/daughter is already on this site?

              Well, this is wonderful!

Some could see this as an embarrassment, however it could be very useful. Your mother could have a better understanding of the career and some of the jargon used - just make sure she doesn't get better than you!

On a serious note, it can be useful. Some parents have no idea what the profession entails an it is good that your mother is showing an interest.

I wish you the very best of luck with regards to your interview with Clyde Marine and if either of you have any questions we will be happy to assist.

I think it's great that my mum is taking an interest, so long as no embarrassing stories are told on here haha Still waiting for a reply from Clyde and I've got an interview for Chiltern Maritime September intake (bit late I know) coming up soon!

                            Peep!

Hello you two, I am not an other I am an enthusiast! Hope thats ok and I don't need to change. This site is great, I have been 'keeping an eye on it' from nearly the beginning and its been a great help to my cadet, its alright she won't be able to see this as her ship has no internet.

It is really nice to see all you mums on here openly lurking. There are many mums who look on here and speak to us old salts in private messages that you cadets don't know about. I have even threatened to out cadets who have not kept in touch with their mums once they go to college!

I think it was this thread that prompted some mums to join:

                              Or the article it became:

However you all need to know you are not alone - just some are more scared or paranoid than others! My daughter is in Switzerland riding International Showjumping Horses for the summer - the wife is speaking to her by Skype EVERY day! *sigh*

So just remember - if you think your mum is on here behave - she may not post the baby pics - but I have no such scruples and will get her to email them to me and post them.

Sorry Guinnessman - taking over your mantle as grumpy old man here......
