  • Hello All!

I'm Andrew, from not so sunny Scotland. I have been lurking around the forum for about a month and have manage to find answer to all of my questions.

I finished university last summer and have been temping and trying to find a proper job ever since. I have a rather odd degree; seems to put people off. I wish I had thought about applying for cadetships back in January.

Anyhow, I have spent the last week filling out and sending off applications to those recruiting for January or accepting spec applications.

Now begins the waiting.... I found the MAIB website last night?plenty of new reading material!

I enrolled to do Oriental Studies but my degree certificate says Philology.

I have had to add a little blurb to my CV because most people seem incapable of Googling it.

I think you may have trumped me in unrelated degree stakes! Where'd you study?

Holding a degree at least shows that you have the ability to study at an advanced level and complete an advanced course.

            London.

            Mak what is yours?

A friend of my Dad's who suggested the MN had done civil engineering before doing his apprenticeship. Anybody else got an unrelated degree?

Nil illegitimi carborundum est. Carpe Deim. Also pertinent when considering a MN career; Caveat Emptor.

I have a degree in engineering but have used little of it; does that count as unrelated?

My degree is in philosophy, but that included a year of philosophy of maths so is slightly more related. Still not convinced numbers exist.

i did one year of social sciences, and one year of computer games software development at uni. then i realised i hated being stuck in a lecture hall for 6 hours a day, watching someone tell us how to do our work, instead of actually doing it ourselves.
Hell, I am young. I am free. My teeth are clean. The sun shines. To hell with everything else.
