Just thought I'd introduce myself! Will here. 22, currently a verger at Salisbury Cathedral. Been spending the last year thinking about applying for the cadet ship and will be at Warsash on Friday for the Open Day, hoping that will lead to good things and I'll have a bit more clarity afterwards.

Anyone else going to be there?

Considering the likelihood that I'll need laser eye surgery (+ the 6 months downtime for them to stabilise) and my lack of multiple A levels, it's likely that I will be a 2013 intake as well. Spend the next year at college boosting my prospects (and having my eyes zapped!)

You don't normally need to get that until you've been given a cadetship.... are you doing a course that gives you a boost toward getting a cadetship or something??

No, I decided to go and get it done now as I was sure I would fail on my eyesight. That way I would have known early and had time to go through consultations and laser surgery etc, and the 6 months downtime before I could take the medical again. I didn't want to get offered a cadetship, go off a week or whatever before it was due to start and fail then. It was peace-of-mind stuff I guess!
