  • diffence between ETO offshore and ETO on normal cargo ships..

hi, i want to ask u about the differnce between an ETO working offshore and that working on cargo ship.... is there any difference between work and salary in both cases...? also can we easily shift from offshore to normal cargo ship(merchant) easily...?
    thanks in advance

Its a good question, as far as i can see having looked at some jobs for offshore (jack up platforms rigs etc) th emain difference is that the offshore industry has a totaly different set of basic safety courses, while they cover a lot of the same ground as MN it would look like you cant get on a rig with STCW stuff,
That said the actual qualifications for ETO's is very vague especially in the UK but for offshore it seems to be covered more by industrial electrician, that said a lot of the systems are the same.
As for shifting between them salary and other bits well that i havent really found out yet.
you can take it with a pinch of salt, but i prefer it with a nip of whisky
