  • Greetings!

    Hello everyone,

New to the forum & indeed the industry. Currently working towards attaining my STCW certs (2/4 so far) with a view to obtaining work on vessels/in ports around the West Coast of Scotland.

Recently completed the PST & PSSR short courses at Glasgow College of Nautical Studies and I'm looking to get my hands on some literature that will help broaden my knowledge in terms of deck operations. Already purchased "A Seaman's Guide to the Rule of the Road" by Ford, J.W.W. but was wondering if "The Efficient Deck Hand 5th Ed" by Wright & Provan would be a recommended read?

    Slainte!

      Yes, hello and welcome.
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

All posts here represent my own opinion and not that of my employer.

Most probably! Ace that and it will make the EDH Course a breeze for you, I'm currently spending my evenings doing knots watching TV/Movies.

        Get some flashcards too!

          Thanks for the response.

Are there any recommended outlets for books? I've seen the EDH advertised online at some crazy prices!

          Cheers.

Amazon for books. You can get Flash Cards from the likes of Pro-Mariner.
