why do you what to be an deck officer

for an application question you might say you prefer the sound of being responsible for safe navigation and stability of the ship more than being responsible for the engineering side of things.
To restart the great deck-engineering debate, I think of boring form filling, chartwork and checklists when I think of deck officers.Former TH cadet with experience of cruise ships, buoy tenders, research ships and oil tankers

I do this job because I love it, I've done a wide variety of land-based jobs, and this, while in some respects can be repetitive, stressful, lonely, etc.. I still love the fact that I go to work every day and get to stare out of the windows at an everchanging seascape, I get to hang out with a brilliant crew when I'm off, I am challenged daily and learn something new every day too.
