I'm Chris, and I've lurked the forum for too long now.
I've accepted an offer with North Star Shipping at Glasgow for the 23rd, and seeing as I know too well that shyness does nothing for sea time, I thought I'd say hello and start spinning some dits.
This is my second career pursuit since sobering up after two years of an English Literature degree, and realising that the career and health prospects of continuing to live as an arts student weren't in my long term interests. During my time at university I joined the URNU (Universities Royal Naval Unit) and found myself settling comfortably (if 'settled' or 'comfortable' could ever truly apply) into the idea of a life at sea.
So after a trip to Kent, an SSTG interview and a long wait, I'm making my preperations to move into St. Lukes halls and crack on with the course. Having read over many of the officer cadet blogs online I've been inspired to write my own, as it seems information on Glasgow as a college is a bit few and far between. (What I have read isn't the most positive, so it may well make a delightfully scathing read).
Looking forward to contributing,
Chris.
