Hi, my names Richard I'm a 27 year old looking for a life at sea and just starting on my journey. I have previously graduated from university in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts but I have been seeking an alternative career after years working in refuse collection, night portering and warehousing.
The Merchant Navy is something I have been considering for a long time now but only today did I stumble on this site as my serious research began over the holidays when my life finally made it possible for me to persue this dream. It's a great resource for aspiring cadets and I imagine I'll be around here a lot as I make tentative steps in my search for sponsorship.
Other than that I am a huge heavy metal fan, play the drums and the bass... poorly. Big sports fan as well, mostly American sports however as much of my time travelling has been spent over there.
