  • Hello

    Hi all,

Hope this post finds you all in good health and full of the festive cheer that this time of year find us in..

I have heard my classmates talking about this forum for some time now....But never really looked or signed up till today.

    So a little about me:

Im 27, I joined this ETO cadetship after I heard about changes coming in my previous job (cuts and so forth) and decdided that a career at sea was for me . Why?

Well I worked for the government for a good few years (many more than i care to admit!) I started in the DSS or DWP (as it is now...) then i eventually worked at the MCA.

Whilst at the MCA i worked on :
    Small Ships Registration
    Fishing Vessel Fleet Registration
Seafarer CoC revalidation & Discharge book issuing

So theres a good chance some of you will have a book out there signed by me.

After doing that for about 2.5 years I transferred to the Operational side of the MCA and worked in an MRCC and qualified as a Coastguard watch assistant where I mainly dealt with 999 calls, Maydays, PanPans etc... Saw many interesting things there. The MRCC I worked at is now closing, hence the change in job was pre-emptive....

Anyways Im in my 3rd phase now (been to sea now back at college again) and I do still keep in touch (when i can) with my friends in the CG and MCA so hopefully if I can help you with anything just ask! I wont bite and I'll deffo help if I can.

    Regards

    E_C
I wanted to put something profound here...... But then I took an arrow to the knee.
