[INFO] Wiki Editing changes...

Right... after a wee bit of fiddling, I've now got passwords and blocking on the wiki, since the spambots started coming in thick and fast.

People who want to edit the wiki can ask me for a password by PM.

I'll work on a better solution over the coming weeks... namely, one where the control is by page rather than by user, and see if that works out ok, as I would prefer it if people could edit without having to go round the houses.

A good fix for now, just add something on the main page that states that for access they must pm you.

How do I get a password to access the wiki? some bits are in red and you have to log in. I tried my username/password from here and it doesnt work.. Can I get a password off someone please? or do I have to be an actual cadet or something before I can access it?

The red areas are still to be added, and this can only be done by admins currently. We are hoping to have a slightly different system operating in the near future, so please bear with us. I hope you are finding it a useful resource.

aye... it's just not ready yet... alas, it takes a few monotonous sessions of gazing glassy eyed into the screen wondering why a particular minor modification of code isn't working!
i reckon it will take a couple of weeks of nothing better to do at college to finish the job.

Which is why I dont write Wiki Articles.....you can feel free to wiki-ise anything I have written that may be of use...there might be some nuggets in there, just credit me and I'll be happy

People can only be credited in general terms, because it all gets mixed up with countless other titbits from anywhere and everywhere... so the best there can be is a list of acknowledgement/blame for contributing to the s(h)ite; keeps it blameproof as well... it needs a big sign at the top of every page saying: "don't follow any of the advice in this wiki!", so that if anyone does, and complains, we can say... well, we did say!

How do I alter the wiki?

I can fill in the country info for Oman and most of the middle east regions if you want as ive either lived there or been there at some stage.

Regarding the wiki, you know it's easy to just get it to use the forums login you provide and then you provide a streamline Single Sign on for all the site services from the singular DB?
