... to block ads which play feckin' music?

Especially that bloody xmas one! [bah feckin' humbug]

Seriously though, for me it is slightly distracting to have jingle bells suddenly start playing or that countdown clock one that pops up, but for it is possible that someone could be on the site in a place where that could be a bit embarrassing, imagine sneaking a quick peak at the site during granny's funeral and jingle bells starts ringing out, or the ticking clock as you approach airport security in Dallas.

Those interactive washing powder/air freshener adverts are the worst!

As for a way to block them, no idea. AdBlock works well for ads that appear in pop-out windows, not sure how you could disable embedded ads.

Are we talking about the banner ads at the top and bottom of threads or is it happening in all areas of the forum? I have to admit I don't get any musical ads when I browse the forum.

There is normally a small cross featured in one of the corners which will mute the ad.

Adblock is best especially with chrome, you can pause it as well (although it can cause problems with 4od, skygo etc but you can just stop it on them sites)

@Randomist, yes, the banner ads, the 2 that I get are in Spanish so probably targeted, I know that I can close them, but it would be better if there was some way not to have my computer suddenly start playing bloody jingle bells without me asking it to.

I prefer not to use ad-block because I know that the site gets (a tiny) income from Google ads and ad-block can effect that.

There's no setting I can change (that I'm aware of, maybe H knows) that will stop it. As H has said you can mute them.

I'll continue to look at it for you, the first thing I would suggest is that you go to your browser settings and clear all your cookies. No need to delete your Internet history, form data or stored passwords, just tell it to clear all stored cookies.

You can just pause it for certain sites, like when i go on youtube i pause it for certain videos as i know that's how some of them make their living.
