    Hi all,

You may have noticed the small green rectangles appearing under your name on the posts you make.

For those new to Vb forums these are representations of your reputation points. You will get more as your points increase.

You cannot add reputation to your own profiles so don't try haha, but you can give rep to other people if you like their posts. The more rep you have the more power your rep is woth, ie you'll give more when you get more. Just click the star at the bottom of the post you can add to a users rep.

Infractions added by admins/mods can reduce your rep.

See how much you can get!

And if you get thanked for a post with the thanks button, that ups your reputation too! :-)

Yes I work for the big blue canoe company.
No I do not report things from here to them as they are quite able to come and read this stuff for themselves.

The profile field on the old software that indicated your professional status was rather more useful. i.e. qualified officer, cadet, thinking about becoming a cadet, deck or engineer, etc. Can something similar be done with this software?

The reputation system will just become cliqueish, if it hasn't already.

Ok, I have added the user field. I'm a bit pushed for time right now so haven't yet incorporated it into the postbit legacy (meaning you'll be able to see it on the posts) but have a look in your edit profile options and you should see the field.

What's this "BA(hons)" cadet option on the dropdown on the profile for the "professional status" field?
AIUI deckies do a BSc and engineers do a BEng, but, it does seem a little pointless as an option, because it's a short-term top-up after you've actually qualified. We might want a few more options, like one for the (STC) EEO cadets (forget that silly "ETO" term, it's boring having to explain it), and maybe as well as College Staff, Company Training Managers, you could maybe have Other category, with another drop down so people can enter what they want... I think there are some people from like recruitment agencies and other companies or who used to be MN and now work on shore in some field... could be useful... discuss! =P

One way to get a COC in the MN apparently is through a BA degree. I know a couple of people have done it at the university of plymouth.

I think we can over complicate it. If I've missed any specific status off then people who wish to select it can let us know

Its a Bsc at Plymouth not a BA
