    Dear all

    Can anybody explain to me about CPA. I mean i know its Closes point of approach. But from where. LIke how do i know more about it . I have searched in google but cant find anything !!

    I apologize is someone has answered this in detail already - the internet in malta is very slow!

    Well, you know it's meaning. From what direction? Anywhere. For some, 1 nautical mile radius is good enough and for others 2' is the minimum.

    It is just a safety precaution. Some captains state the specified CPA and request that if any vessel impedes that CPA or an officer cannot maintain that distance between another vessel, he will want to be informed. Read up on radar plotting that may explain it better.
