Wanting to leave it a year?

Is there anyone out there who has been offered a place/interview with Maersk for the 2013 intake and think that they'd rather leave it a year? If so, do you think you would be willing to pass it on to me? Iam very hard working, committed to this being my chosen career and to kick it off with Maersk would be absoulutely fantastic! I live in the uk, keep fit and love my family.

Offers generally can't be passed around like that. Have you applied to Maersk? Did they accept you?

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that... Apply to every company to see who can you offer you something, but the competition is fierce, so when someone drops out another 1000 candidates will be waiting for the place!

There is absolutely NO chance that someone could give up a place with a training company and then say to the training company "By the way I know someone who will take my place!". You get in on merit - not who you know. As YM says, there is a queue as long as your arm to get in and anyone that drops out is replaced immediately by someone on the reserve list. Over 1000 applicants for Maersk for 50 jobs - they will have someone else who has already passed all the tests and interviews in mind.

I think your question shows a HUGE degree on naivety on your part and that you do not understand the recruitment process.

Sorry, but you need to get out there and apply like everyone else and get in on your own merit.

I sincerely hope this is a joke - companies go to a large effort to process the vast amounts of applications to short list those for interview - as Hatchorder said over 1000 and still growing and they sure as hell aren't just going to give someones place to you just because you ask for it. Apply like everyone else and if you have the qualities and attitude they are looking for, you will progress. There are no shortcuts in this career !
