Do we have to turn this into ANOTHER drugs thread? It's been done to death on here and always ends up going round in circles.

Drugs are Illegal (in most places) i.e. not permitted on ship or in people on ship.

Pirated movies are Illegal (in most places).....

It is up to you what you do. Where you do whatever it is you do is also up to you. However, if you are caught breaking the law, there is a high chance of there being CONSEQUENCES.

Be nice, be good, and if you can't do one or either of those, don't shout about it on a public forum.

As far as I'm aware pirate movies and copywrite infringment are civil maters not criminal ones.

            You are wrong.

Have a look ingo the copyright, designs and patent act 1988 and the digital economy act 2010.

Companies whose work you stole can however sue you as well even if you have recieved a criminal saction for downloading.

In the UK minor breaches (ie: you have a handful of copied films and where you are not reselling or making cash from your copyright infringement) would normally be dealt with as a civil case - mainly because its cheaper and there is a lesser degree of proof required...

However as chris has rightly said, the Act allows for criminal prosecution, but as this tends to be more expensive and there is a higher burden of proof on the prosecutions side it is normally only brought against serious breaches and can result in prison / fines - and as he has said you're also highly likely to be sued as well.

You have NOTHING to worry about, there's a lot worse things knocking about than a cadets downloads! Its only porn that some authorities are bothered about and in the EXTREMELY unlikely event of getting a porn inspection lol have everything backed up on a hard-drive. Chill.

How exactly do they search your computer? Do they just manually check for hidden folders/files and known hiding places or do they have some kind of search program?
