  • CoC and HV

    Hi all

Just received my new CoC today and there is a stamp in there saying, From the 1 January 2017 this certificate is not valid for service on ships fitted with HV (over 1000V) systems. I know its a long way off yet but does anyone know what qualifications are going to be required.

    Thanks

Yes I work for the big blue canoe company.
No I do not report things from here to them as they are quite able to come and read this stuff for themselves.

Im thinking of doing an approved HV course to supplement my ETO training if we dont do one at college. Quite a few different place offer them at different places and approved by different bodies such as the MCA, offshore contractors association. Are they all the same really?

no idea, however if you are an ETO it should be covered in the course already

yeah 2017 is when the STCW admendments are in force for the changes from 2010 it will also be the end of ETO's working with shoreside qualifications on ships and some other small changes
you can take it with a pinch of salt, but i prefer it with a nip of whisky
