Recipt of your first payslip will depend on when the company sends them out. You will receive your pay first. And then within a week or so of being paid the payslip.
It will also depend on when in the month your company pays you, some pay on the first day of a new month, some on the last day of the month and sometimes at other times.

Normally money is in the bank and spent long before the pay slip arrives, however company just changed to e-slips only and now both appear at same time.
Pay date is totally dependant on your company and, for your first one, how good the pay department are at processing bank details, oh and getting the right :-)Trust me I'm a Chief.

Yes I work for the big blue canoe company.
No I do not report things from here to them as they are quite able to come and read this stuff for themselves.

What? Since when? Pay slips we get are for the month we are in, so April wages go in end of April and the pay slip appears anytime up to first week in May, depending on post etc (other than aafore said new e-slips system)Trust me I'm a Chief.

I think its just the way the MOD does business. I get paid on the last working day of the month and payslips for that payday are released on about the 20th of that month, and reach the units on about the 23rd-25th"Crazy like wild wolves threatened by fire, send them all to the bottom of the sea."

I usually get my payslip dropped on my desk about a day or so before I get paid which is usually a couple of days before the end of the month.I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

I think he was wondering whether you get paid before the first month you are at college, to help with expenses for the first month at sea, but I have the feeling you have to fend for yourself for the first month and get the first pay at the end of the first month at college, or am I wrong?? Help guys?

Yes like all normal jobs you get paid in arrears (so you work first then get the money). this obviously means that for your first month you will need to come up with rent, travel costs, deposit out of your own means. although this can be done with a student overdraft or credit card. Somecompanies do work around this by paying for accomadation for the first month etc.
What ever you do avoid things like wonga or other short term loan companies, as with the pay it will be really hard to get back out of them in a short time. where as a good new credit card will have enough intrest free time on it that you can last till the sea phase if needed. Also check if the halls will accept payments by creditcard without charging a percentage, if so get a cash back card and use it for that. its only going to be 2 pints a month but still free beer.you can take it with a pinch of salt, but i prefer it with a nip of whisky
