  • Change of college

Hi there I am a current cadet with SSTG (north star) and am currently studying at The City of Glasgow College,
North star stipulates all cadets must attend the cogc just wondering if any past north star or current north star cadets have had any luck changing colleges as I would like and would benefit me by attending south Tyneside

    Any Advice

    Thanks in advance

Even just changing colleges can be difficult, my mate is North Star I think and as you will know they don't only want you at that college but you have to live in the halls for it all to. So if you try it might be very difficult and not to put it down but it's highly doubtful as they will have their reasons .

They presumably make you stay in Alcatraz so when you get put on one of their ancient ships you don't complain about the pokey cabin, although I see some of the really ancient ones are due for replacement this year.

It's unlikely you'd be able to change colleges as the classes are not taught in the same order at all the colleges - although the only people who will tell you for sure are your company.

Plus the education system and exam board is different in England. You'd probably have to restart the course at your own expense...

If I were in your position, my first port of call would be Rachel- if something can be arranged, she seems to go out of her way to help cadets with any issues they have. As for the education being different- an HNC/HND is the same whether you sit it in Scotland or England and both are what's taught at each college. It is not unheard of students transferring colleges, although I am aware of North Star's specifications to attending COGC. I'm afraid since I'm not a North Star cadet I can't help as to whether or not they consider individual circumstances but if you present a sound enough case for your reasonings, I'm sure SSTG will do they're best to arrange something- my advice, speak to Rachel
