OK, I am a newly qualified EOOW and I am looking for some advice. I have enjoyed my cadetship, however I don't see myself being at see for the rest of my career.

At the moment I am prepared to work for the next 5 years at sea, with the idea of making as money as possible in this time in order to set myself up in business ashore. I know a lot of people frown upon this attitude, however I make no apologies for it as I am giving up quite a lot of freedom so I want to maximise my renumeration.

I am not bothered about shore leave etc. Which sector of the industry would the most lucrative for some one with my goals?

LNG carriers tend to come with the best pay, but they require a fair bit of commitment to get on them and stay on them for any length of time.

As someone with no LNG experience, would a 4th engineers post on these vessels be attainable for me? Also would a steam ticket be a prerequisite?

For all out money would offshore not be the best place to go?

Unlikely, but possible. Depends on the vessel. Most LNG vessels are steam as the boilers can be fuelled by the boil off gas from the cargo.
