    Re: Transfer

Like chiefy said it's easy. I found i didn't have a job with my training company and got my CV handed out. I made them aware that i didn't have my ticket yet as i was revising, waiting for NOE and i would be sitting them at the first possible oppurtunity. They phoned and said ok come for an interview and thats that.

With carnival a 4th is a temporary position. You only do one trip as fourth as its a company requirement but it's exactly the same job as 3rd just a bit less money.

    Re: Transfer

    Eh?
Job before Orals is easy, as technically the course is finished and you are released from the training contract, OR you have already been told that there is no job for you with the training (sponsoring) company in which case the sooner you get applying the better.

No one really advertises for 4th's as they are beating a course to their door all the time, you dont have to wait till they tell you there are vacancies And even after 2 years with a company you may not yet have your Class2, it's 18 months SEA time actually on a boatie, not "working for them" and why on earth would you only be a 4th with a 2eng ticket, the 2eng ticket means you can be a Second, however some companies insist having a higher ticket than the rank you are in (which gets a bit unstuck at chiefs level!). So there are plenty of options, but the big thing first get train and qualified...with "whoever"

    Re: Transfer

How did you manage that? getting a job beofre your orals?

Well theres loads of cruise companies out there.

I just hope that in 5 years time they are still in need... if i chose to make the move.

How come when i look on companies website career pages they never advertise 4 engineers though? as after working for the company for 2 years, after training I would have thought i may only have got 2eng ticket and could only go in as a 4th eng?

    Thanks

    Re: Transfer

After qualifying EASY. I've done it. Actually i had the job with the cruise company prior to passing my orals (They're that desperate).
If you change over during a cadetship the cargo company would be pissed and the cruise company probably not bothered (they may even fast track depending how far you've come) but the cargo company will probably want compensation if you're changing over and not quitting

    Re: Transfer

If you mean transfer companies while training, pretty much impossible without going back and starting over, if you mean once qualified, then easy as applying for another job with another company
