  • Seatime on Small Vessels

I'm considering leaving my current employer - workboats under 24m. Now my experience has been almost entirely there since qualifying and I have a Master 200GT licence and a handful of days on larger vessels however I'm painfully aware that after 7 years my ability to skip Chief Mates writtens will lapse (good old pre-2015 enrollment cadet...) and I want to take advantage of this. I have got a good few years left - however I want to get 12 months seatime on larger vessels as quickly as possible.

What I'm asking is, does the seatime on <24m/80GT vessels count as anything? I can't find any literature on it, and people I ask have varying opinions... I'm reasonably keen on staying in the workboat industry, however I would prefer to make some progress towards 'Unlimited' certification.
