SSTG still pay if leave college accomodation?

Hi

I am aware sstg pays you a weekly sum of money for your accomodation, and of course your monthly allowance.

But after a few months if i wish to leave the college grounds and rent, do i still get money for the new accomodation from sstg?

Yes you do, however if there is a shortfall (which would be unlikely) then you would have to make it up from your allowance. I believe that the accomodation grant that is given to you is ?120 per week.

Remember to keep in mind that in holiday months. ( such as this one ) You only get accomodation allowance for days you are in college.

What is a holiday month??!! The payment is made throughout the college phases, and ceases during the sea phases.

Well for example this month, I don't know if every college is the same but STC is off from the 1st-14th of April, then obviously the 3 days of bank holidays, You only get the accomodation allowance for the days your actually in college to learn, so this month cadets on the same pay as me will get around ?140 for accomodation allowance.

The way I read it, was that the accommodation grant was equal to the highest they would pay for college accommodation, so basically whatever they're paying for you're halls they'll later give to you for your rent.

One question though, if an SSTG cadet were to get a flat in a later phase, and the rent was say 275 pound a month, with a max grant of 110 pound a week, would they only provide enough to cover the rent, or the flat 110 towards all living costs from the flat?

You get ?110 for a week in college, regardless of rent fee's, you can pocket some money from it if you can play your cards riight

Money is one thing...but with me, if I was to share a flat or a house, you have to be CLEAN lol. Wash up everyday, clean up, hoover, if not I would rather stay in the college....
