Internet at warsash?

Hi im not sure wether to take my desktop to warsash because i need to know wether there will be an internet connection available in the rooms. Also if there is an internet connection will it let you play games such as FPS and MMOs. Thanks.

There are ethernet ports in each room, two for a twin room.

Thank you for replying so fast. Do you know if they have any restrictions on there internet though such as games running off your computer being blocked?

I am sure someone else will be able to answer your query, I do not play computer games so therefore am unable to answer it fully.

If your main concern is about playing computer games, then I'm really worried!! The internet connection is perfectly adequate for your studies.

Playing computer games is NOT my main concern and I never said it was so please don't talk for me. My studies will be my priorities I just like to play computer games in my free time which I assume you get some free time... Anyway I've seen threads in these forums about people asking wether they can play xbox live over the internet and no one complained about that, infact they was very helpful. So seeing as you didn't answer my question hopefully someone else will because it is pretty obvious the internet will be adequate for studies I didn't even ask that...

The terms and conditions don't seem to mention anything about online gaming. P2P is clearly not allowed, and as long as you don't use a huge amount of traffic you'd probably be ok (don't take my word for it though). However, I would be interested about the internet speed you get in the halls and as it's a residential network who knows what kind of lag you may get when playing online. If I were you I would drop an e-mail to the Resnet team, nothing wrong with asking them whether it's allowed or not.

I am not sure my mind can process that; does it feel like that speed or is there an internal firewall lag? I have experienced this before in civic buildings such as libraries; super fast internet killed by a firewall.

Please watch your attitude-not particularly for on here, but for later on. As I said, the internet is sufficient for your studies and that is the purpose of being at college and why your sponsor company/government is investing so many thousands of pounds in you.
