    ok so i got accepted for engineering cadetship with clyde-hnc/hnd at gcns in september but after looking at deck more i really wish i had applied for it, what are the chances of swapping to deck? hads anybody here ever swaped? or know anybody who has?

    Could be a bit of a stuggle as they have filled all there places as far as i can see so there may just not be space plus they may not like you going back on the engineering bit as you prob gave reasons for wanting to be a engineer

      It has been done before, though the particular case that I am familiar with (a Clyde Marine cadet with Zodiac) was some years back and went from Deck to Engine after the first sea phase. As you haven't started yet, it might be easier than if you were already at college or sea. This has been discussed previously on another thread.

      ISTR that the Tonnage Tax rules don't specify that cadets must be employed in proportionate numbers to the branches of officers employed.
