Re: The waiting game!
SHouldnt be long, if longer thana week get on the e-mail or phone to your sponsor, alot of cadets know where theya re going months in advance (I already know the names of 2 cadets joining here in March, mind oyu they might not know!)Trust me I'm a Chief.

Re: The waiting game!
How long is a piece of string? Have a bag packed and wait for the phone; it might be a week, a month, they might phone tomorrow and say, 'get yourself to the airport tomorrow'. I have waited 1 month and nearly 2 months as a cadet only to get a phone call telling me to leave a couple of days later. frustrating, but you are being paid(ish).'... English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don't
just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages
down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for
new vocabulary.' - James Davis Nicoll

Re: The waiting game!
I was worried that I'd be waiting ages for a berth as I'm sponsored by Trinity House, but happily they found one with Holland America about 3 weeks before the end of phase 1.Former TH cadet with experience of cruise ships, buoy tenders, research ships and oil tankers
