  • Ahead of the game

    Good Afternoon,

In September I began my three years study toward my deck OOW certification. My question is; what subjects or areas should I really concentrate on? What subjects are most useful? (I realise that everything covered is relevant!) I have already started learning the Colregs, revising for the signals exam in phase three, celestial nav and a plethora of others.

Any help from those of you in later phases or who recently sat their OOW would be very much appreciated

    Thanks

COLREGs and Bouyage is probably the most important - the sooner you learn the COLREGs by heart (and understand them) the easier it is to keep them in your mind. Everything else you should pick up at sea.
