How do you cope

I am just wondering how do people cope with there loved ones going away to sea??? how to keep yourself sane with them being away???

Plus how hard is it to keep a relationship if both are serveing merchant navy?? is there ways round it i have had a couple ideas but is there any proven ways???

There's no 'Way round it'. You keep in touch as much as possible, email, skype, facebook, phone etc whenever possible... but yeah, it's sh1t and you miss them, it's just as hard for those who go to sea, believe me.

What you have to ask yourself is whether you love the person enough to wait, if the answer is no, then it was never going to work anyway. If you spend the whole time you're apart wondering whether they're having it off with other people, again, it's probably not going to work out.

My last fella was also in the MN, and once he'd qualified we spent a total of 4 weeks together in 6 months, and to be perfectly honest, it would have ended sooner had we seen more of each other! The only proven way of keeping a relationship going is to be honest, loving, truthful and patient, and it ain't always easy!!
