Could I move from marine engineering on cargo ships to offshore support vessels?

in theory yes, probably not as a cadet would be an odd mix of ship types for one company.
its also not a particularly great field right at the moment lots of ship have been layed up due to falling demand and prices so for newly qualified with no experience your going to be lucky to get a job there, but they still are operating and there is no barrier to you working for them if you can find an employer
