Far too much superfluous information and opinion in this report, very much trying to write a story about hero Captains and Chief Engineers rather than fact.

Will be interesting to see what comes out of it, if anything.

Having dealt with class on new build projects, it's about time someone sorted out the ridiculous focus on complying with the letter of some obscure regulation over actually going and making sure that the feckin' ship is seaworthy. I bet that at some point during the build of the Emma Maersk, some numb nuts surveyor from class insisted that a fire detector be moved 8cm to starboard yet managed not to notice that the watertight bulkhead penetration weren't actually watertight.
