First terrorist attack on a merchant ship in the Suez Canal during the current troubles in Egypt. The Egyptian armed forces responded swiftly to the threat.

Very concerning, but the military seem to be on the case, so guess it's pirate stations whilst going through Suez from now on....

It's not surprise that the Suez is a target, and the Egyptians have various procedures in place including the military presence all the way along the canal banks and the helicopter gunships which patrol continuously. I also believe that they close the bridges on occasions whilst ships are passing underneath.
I think if we do a transit anytime soon, we'll be questioning whether we should take our normal position in the convoy (places 1 and 2).
