  • Rig under tow sinks off Sakhalin

This looks nasty; the conditions sound pretty similar to the North Sea. BBC report The report suggests the mess windows were stoved in by waves followed by flooding and capsize. Lack of storm shutters/deadlights?
'... English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don't
just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages
down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for
new vocabulary.' - James Davis Nicoll

Quite a few dead, very sad. Incidents like this "shouldn't" happen, but unfortunately cost cutting and poor planning is often the cause.
If there is one thing anyone in the maritime industry is sure of, (particularly shipping companies), that companies will always try to cut costs to the bare minimum.

cost cutting can be dangerous, however companies are there to make money at the end of the day. And if they didn't make money, we wouldn't have jobs.

        Poor bastards....
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....
