  • Cadetship termination/withdraws

    Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could help, I literally just started my graduate cadetship with trinity house this week, and I just got a job offer from Technip as an engineer. Can anyone advise if I can still pull out of my cadetship without any financial penalty. Thanks

Totally down to your contract. The quicker you leave, if that’s your choice, the better for you and the company. You’ll be starting your STCW courses soon as you’re a graduate entrant, they cost a lot of money for the company and that’s where they’d want payback. I’ve never heard of anybody paying any amount back though, even guys who got sacked near the end of the course. If you leave on Monday you’ll probably owe nothing.

    Congrats and good luck.

If it's within the first few weeks you should be able to back out without any cost.

As a note though, companies can and do chase you for cash - Anglo Eastern are one that I know do.
Pointy bit is the front, blunt bit is the back... Simples!

      Will work for money/sea time.
