    so what effect does this have on the offshore industry?

    I think it might mean that mariners don't have to get into complex NI faffery, but retain the benefits it bring (such as they are). It certainly seems more efficient; NI is looking a tad anachronistic these days... when it was originally invented it was a simple safety net for the working classes who weren't expected to live long in retirement.

      Ment more that the reduction in fuel duty is being funded by taxing the offshore industry.

        Don't worry, the companies will just pay for it with all the money they save by not maintaining their cranes, navigation lights and NUI's. My comment is directed solely at the platforms btw!!
