Just thought I'd give you all a quick heads up. I've been hearing quite a number of stories about people experiencing problems whilst bunkering in Singapore. Seem's "cappuccino-ing" is back on the rise there again, so you may all want to keep an eye the next time you go for bunkers there.

D) Bunker supply hose jerking around violently,
E) More air than usual coming out the vent heads,
The one on the left is fuel with air in it, the one on the right is what your fuel should look like.I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.....

however if you are on the big blue canoes, their bunker manifold is so HUGE it is normal for it gurgle and fart and even run with the valve throttled a bit to get the sample :-)
It is without a doubt a con and a real pain in the arse to prove as everyone bunkers at high speed and wants to be away before you have chance to be sure of the figures etc. DNV surveyors are the way forward (other companies are available)Trust me I'm a Chief.
Views expressed by me are mine and mine alone.
Yes I work for the big blue canoe company.
No I do not report things from here to them as they are quite able to come and read this stuff for themselves.

Bunkering fuel has got to be the biggest pain in the ass as chief. It's usually better if you are on a regular run and bunker in the same port all the time, but not always.
It doesn't help that a lot of ships are being built with only gauges instead of sounding pipes on the bunker tanks, it is normally easier to accept a discrepancy and hide it in the consumption figures, than to argue over it.Go out, do stuff

Hi!
repeatedly heard these stories, but the last contract worked at the line with calling to Singapore that surprised, Hanjin charter, sends the independent syurveer and everything passes on the highest class, the amount of fuel onboard is considered by calculations of the Chief Enginer and ship tables.
Wish for all my colleagues silent voyages and good reliability of ships equipments
