  • EOOW Oral Exam help

    Hi all,

I have my first oral attempt in a couple of weeks time and I feel as though my revision is going well.
I'm confident with verbally answering what I believe to be the more common questions (taking over a watch, enclosed space entry etc..), and progressing well with more technical ones.
Just wondering if anyone could clear up the absolute MUST knows, areas that if I'm not 100% confident in my answer will result in a fail.

I've only sailed on 4 stroke diesel electric, never sailed with a boiler and only seen Azimuth thrusters for means of steering....

    Anything is appreciated, cheers.

For class 4 they will base it on ships you know, but .........

Pre departure checks, string gear what and how you test, time of hard over to hard over
    Settling down for sea passage
Big engines, scavenge fires how to deal with
All engines, evolution of and consequences crankcase explosions, risk mitigation of same
How to flash a boiler from cold, safety features
    Air compressor safety
Difference between 2 and 4 stroke engines
    Just everything!
    Trust me I'm a Chief.

Views expressed by me are mine and mine alone.
Yes I work for the big blue canoe company.
No I do not report things from here to them as they are quite able to come and read this stuff for themselves.
