Alright guys, im on my 2nd trip as a cadet on a large container currently at anchor in the china sea, we've been here a week and since the 2nd day our seachest is being clogged with seaweed, we have to go down every 2-3 hrs to clear the blockage in the pipes running from the seachest to outside, the engineers on board are using compressed air to clear the blockage but the problem just re-appears every time, anyone had any experience with this problem and would know of any way we could possibly solve it?

They parked in the wrong place, it's that simple, aso a quick blast around at high speed might help in case anything has stuck it self to the hull etc, or more likely got entangled, but yeah you're in the wrong parking spot.

Yes I work for the big blue canoe company.
No I do not report things from here to them as they are quite able to come and read this stuff for themselves.

Is the problem equally bad when on either high or low sea suction?
