    Hi,

I know this thread is a few months old now, but i thought i would reply to you incase you get K-Line as a company. I am now a qulifed OOW but i done my cadetship with K-Line.
If you do get them you will most likely be on bulk carriers probably cape size, if you can request to do a trip on a handy sized vessel as you will get to visit more ports giving you more oppertunties to do cargo work as well as mooring operations and coastal navigation. As on cape size vessels the average voyage lengh will be around 4 weeks. Unfortantly you wont have access to internet, but you will access to ships email and sat phone which means you can keep in touch with home. Crew: I sailed with Indian, Bulgarian and Filipinio crews on the whole the english was an acceptable level.
I did enjoy my cadetship with K-Line although at the end of my training was not offered employment and as a newly qulifed officer i did find it difficult to find a job. the only other negitives i had were, the food, i lost alot of weight infact to much weight as the cooks only caterierd for the main nationality on-board. Just show the officers you are serious about your career and get stuck in as well as asking to do stuff. be proactive in getting your MNTB as the officers dont always understand the importance of it.

Good luck to you in which ever company you get!

Same, suppose it's to stop you kicking up too much of a fuss if you get one you don't like haha.
Sent it off today, ended up picking:
    1. GulfMark
    2. P&O Ferries
    3. NMM

I am yeah, that's why I'm gonna give Fletcher a bell because if they don't send their cadets to Fleetwood I can cross them off the list.

Aye, I suppose any will do at the end of the day but it would be nice to get one of the ones you pick.
I think I'll end up putting:
    1. GulfMark
    2. SubSea 7
    3. NMM or Fletcher or P&O

Going to ring Fletcher tomorrow and see if they can let me know how many CMT cadets they're taking this September and from which college as they're a small company so I imagine they'll only take a few.

    Northern marine, k-line and norbulk.

Although i hear northern marine have started crewing some of stenas ferries so i might get a shot on some of them if im lucky to meet the conditions for my cadetship!
